It is BLAZING hot outside, and we know you want to keep your pups safe when it’s like this. We’ve got five quick tips for you for keeping your pups hydrated and cool in the summer temps.
Try frozen pup treats! You can find these at our store and at several restaurants/fast food places in town. Frozen yogurts that are safe for dogs offer them a tasty treat on a hot day and a different way to get extra hydration.
Ice cubes! Ice cubes are fun to play with and cool off a dog’s water bowl too. Be sure you’re changing out water every day, even multiple times a day, to ensure your pet has cool water to drink.
Got a hose? Many dogs love to play in the water! If you don’t have a kiddie pool for your pups to cool off in, consider turning on the sprinkler for a few minutes or even just “watering the plants” while your dog runs through the spray to cool down.

Just add “gravy!” Adding a little bit of wet food, or a wet “topper” to your pet’s kibble can help them get more hydration during the summer too.
And finally, when you’re hiking with your pets in the summer months, be sure to bring a collapsible water bowl and extra water for your pets. They get just as thirsty as you do, if not more so, on those outings.
